Was a nice day out. Nice seeing a different view of the mountain and going for walk around the top was good. This is a great thing to do in the summer cause the views are amazing, take a picnic up and enjoy. Lovely friendly staff greeting with a smile and they have lots of energy. Was a lovely family trip for us. Thank you.
Had a fantastic time with great views from the cafe.
Only good point: it was easy to give this site my money. Bought this the day before going to the gondola and it provided ZERO information on the timing for when the gondola opens and closes. It opens at 9 am and closes at 4 pm. You must be OFF the gondola and leaving by 4 pm so don’t think about coming at 3 pm. 0 stars for that. Secondly they provide no barcode to access the gondola which you 100% need to access it. Highly recommend just buying when you get there.

Well worth the trip
It was a rainy cloudy morning when we started up on the Sky Waka. However by the time we reached the top there were bits of blue sky showing. There was only one walk open because of the weather - the Skyline walk. It was hard work climbing at altitude and I hid the halfway sign from my husband 😂, but the view of Mt Ngauruhoe (Mt Doom) at the top was worth it. Definitely a level of fitness needed and it was very blowy at the top but a great feeling of achievement. Lunch at the café was welcome afterwards.
